Colton, CA — 23 year old Pablo Cerda is the latest victim of the 40,000 acre Esperanza Fire in Riverside County.
Cerda was one of the firefighters engulfed in flames as they attempted to protect a structure this past Thursday, the first day of what would eventually be a 63 sqaure mile, 40,200 acre blaze.
Cerda was removed from life support by his family Tuesday evening at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton.
Governor Schwarzenegger has ordered all C.D.F. and Fire Protection flags flown at half-staff in honor of California´s 20th firefighter fatality in the past 12 months.
A public memorial for the five firefighters has been scheduled for Sunday.
