Avery Teen’s Condition Upgraded

Avery, CA — A teenager who was injured during a bicycle accident last month is making progress in his recovery.

14-year-old Jason Knight of Avery hit a car while riding his bike near Avery Middle School. The CHP reported that Knight ran a stop sign and ran into a Honda CRV driven by 17- year-old James Welles of Arnold.

Welles turned to try to avoid the collision but Knight´s bike struck the right front side of the car and Knight´s head hit the windshield.

Knight was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition through last week.

An update Monday says he is now listed in fair condition.
