Sonora, CA– One of Tuolumne County´s most wanted suspects is now behind bars.
Thursday evening Sheriff´s Deputy Jeff Gempler had his hands full when Sonora resident Clayton Gandy attempted to run away after being stopped for a vehicle code violation on Cherokee Road.
After pulling Gandy over, Gempler recognized him and knew he had several no bail arrest warrants.
Reports indicate when Gempler asked Gandy to step out of the vehicle, Gandy began to run. When the Deputy caught up with him, Gandy tried to free himself and hit Gempler across the arm.
Gandy was then handcuffed and taken to the county jail. Gandy also had a methamphetamine smoking pipe in his possession when he was arrested.
Along with his previous charges, Gandy now faces charges of battery on a Deputy and possession of methamphetamine smoking paraphernalia.
