Turkeys Cause Mokelumne Hill Collision

Mokelumne Hill, CA — A group of turkeys set off a chain of events that caused a car crash on Highway 12 Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol says Nathan Bredenberg of San Andreas was driving his 2003 Honda Accord west bound on Highway 12 near Central Hill Road at 7:15 Tuesday morning.

The car in front of Bredenberg hit the brakes to avoid some turkeys entering the roadway, causing the car to fishtail.

28-year-old Bredenberg did not see the turkeys but reacted and applied his brakes. This caused the vehicle in back of him driven by Roxanne Alcon of San Andreas to rear end Bredenberg.

29-year-old Alcon and her eight-year old passenger were taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital for minor injuries.
