High School Life In Tuolumne County
Sonora, CA — High school life in Tuolumne County is the focus of this week’s Mother Lode Views.
Sonora High Principal Todd Dearden and his Summerville counterpart, Dave Urquhart, will comment on a number of issues that are facing students, faculty and administrators in 2010.
Bullying, both face-to-face and cyber, will be discussed along with the cause and preventative measures taken by the aforementioned groups. While there are have been a number of suicides resulting from bullying nation wide, there have been none reported to date in Tuolumne County.
Both principals will discuss the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs (marijuana and prescription) both on and off campus.
While these remain critical issues Dearden and Urquhart acknowledge that bullying and drug usage comprises only a small percentage of the two student bodies.
Also addressed will be the skyrocketing cost of a college education and the disappointment of many students with an outstanding grade average that qualify for a four year school but cannot afford that type of education.
Mother Lode Views will be aired Saturday morning at 9:30 and Sunday morning at 8:30 on AM-1450 KVML. Mother Lode Views can also be heard Sunday morning at eight o’clock on 93.5 KKBN and an hour later on STAR 92.7.
