Church of the 49ers
It’s a Western Shindig in Columbia! The folks at the historic Church of the 49ers are hosting a Shindig in air-conditioned Faith Hall on Saturday, June 24, beginning at 5 pm. Dress up in your Western duds for an evening of good food, Country Western music and dancing. All proceeds from this fundraising event will be used for chancel lighting and other sanctuary improvements.
The event features a buffet dinner with several kinds of chili (including vegetarian), and sarsaparilla floats for dessert. Entertaining the crowd with Country-Western favorites are Bill Lane and Don Prater, known as “Country Lane,” and the Cowboy Crooner “Tater” from Columbia State Park. The Twain Harte Twirlers will give a demo square dance and invite the audience to join in, and there is line dancing too.
Wear a Western outfit and win a prize! Buy $1 tickets for the many opportunity drawings, and have your picture taken in the Old West photo parlour, with props supplied by Kamice’s Photographic Establishment in Columbia State Park.
Tickets for entry to this fun Western evening with dinner and entertainment are $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for the young ‘uns. Bring the whole family! Call Leslie Davis at 532-6604 to reserve your tickets. Tickets will also be sold at the door, until sold out.
