Each year, Artistic Director Tammie Lee and Studio 4 Dance Theater present a fresh version of the magical tale of Clara, her Nutcracker Prince, and their Christmastime adventures in the Candy Kingdon. The beautiful theater and the professional quality of the production entrance newcomers and bring appreciative audiences back year after year for sell-out performances. This year’s Nutcracker is set in an orphanage at the turn of the century; Clara and Fritz’s parents have passed away in the Plague, and Dr. Drosselmeyer is a visiting magician.
More than 50 dancers, ranging in age from 4-60 years old, are cast in the ballet and rehearse for over six months. The 2015 production of “The Nutcracker” features several new characters and costumes, including Mrs. Gingersnap and a Chinese Dragon, and stars Michaela Jarnagin as Clara, Molly Johnson as the Dew Drop Fairy, Leah Cottrell as the Mouse Queen, Madison Pelland as the Snow Queen and Brianna Gilbert as the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Nutcracker Prince will be portrayed by Justin Sharp, Damian Homer-Goltz will be the Cavalier, and Tim Smith is taking on the role of Dr. Drosselmeyer.
