Visit the vernal pools of Jamestown’s Table Mountain with Tuolumne County Trailhead. Anticipating another well-attended outing, TCT has arranged for Bureau of Reclamation Ranger Mike McGraw and two other rangers to join the expedition. As this is a short hike, the group will concentrate on plant and animal identification skills including using water magnifiers (provided) for looking at invertebrates from the pools. Expect to see wildflowers, raptors, and expansive views on this fairly easy 3-mile out-and-back round trip. There is a short, steep section on the final approach to the mesa top of the mountain. To RSVP and receive meet-up instructions, go to the “Contact Us” page at kaad-lp.org. Refer to TCT in the subject line. The Tuolumne County Trailhead program airs on KAAD-LP 103.5 FM (Sonora’s community radio station) on second and fourth Sundays at 12:30pm; hikes are monthly on first Saturdays.
