Sullivan Creek Cleanup

Tuolumne County Land Trust is sponsoring a clean up of public land along Sullivan Creek. This is part of the 9th Great Sierra River Cleanup event. Participants should wear sturdy boots, and bring a re-fillable water container, gloves, bucket, and a tool to pick up litter. Registration for the event starts Saturday at 8:30 next to the Peppery restaurant and will last till early afternoon. Participants under 18 will need to have a waiver signed by parent or guardian. This section of Sullivan Creek includes Elseys Pool, waterfalls, and some remarkable sculpted rocks formations. A large volume of garbage will be removed including; mattresses, tarps, furniture, and garbage. Grafitti will be removed from the natural rocks near the water. The garbage will be packed 400′ up the hill to the railroad tracks by Columbia College students and other volunteers. Employees of Sierra Railroad will shuttle the junk 1/4 mile on the rails to where it can be loaded and hauled away. Come and have fun taking care of your public land!
