Angels Camp, CA…Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation is currently making plans for the Special 10th Anniversary of the Doris Barger Golf Outing at Greenhorn Creek golf course on June 12th. The outing, named after Doris Barger, founder and first president of the Mark Twain Hospital Foundation thirty-three years ago, will be in memory of Barger who passed away in August of 2016.
The tournament is a favorite of local golfers, and includes a lively auction during dinner that will feature an O.A.R.S trip on the Rogue River, a week’s stay in Punta Mita, Mexico, a specially etched 10th Anniversary Jeroboam of Tempranillo bottled by Twisted Oak Winery, an Eastern Sierra Golf Getaway for four and dinner for eight at Jordan Oaks Vineyard prepared by the golf committee itself! Another crowd favorite is a competition between Greenhorn’s golf pros to see who can get the highest bid on golf lessons for 4 people.
This year is a special one, as the Foundation is celebrating the ground breaking of the $7.6M Dalton Family Medical Center project in Angels Camp on Stanislaus Avenue at business route Highway 49. This site was identified several years ago by the late Jim Dalton, who was a board member and headed fund development.
Golf will commence at 12:30pm with a shotgun start and scramble/best ball format. The $150 package includes green’s fees, cart, swag bag and dinner at Camps Restaurant immediately following play. A putting contest, hole in one contest (winner will win a Chevrolet from Sierra Motors), live auction and raffle all add to the day’s fun.
