Railtown 1897 SHP
California State Parks and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) are proud to present “In Train View” – an exhibition of 36 large format photographs showcasing the talent of the Sonora Photo Club – that will be on display May 16 through September 7, 2015. With close-ups, portraits, still-life images and shots of trains in action, “In Train View” showcases often overlooked elements of the historic Roundhouse and Shops at Railtown 1897 SHP.
To introduce the new exhibit, Park visitors are invited to join the talented photographers for an opening reception on Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. The exhibit will remain on display through Labor Day weekend and the photographs will also be on sale, with proceeds benefiting the Park.
The Sonora Photo Club was founded in 2005 in the California Gold Country town of Sonora to promote the art of photography. The goal of the club is to explore the entire photographic experience from equipment to photographic techniques, from shooting to post processing and printing. Members display and discuss their photos, learn new tips and techniques, and seek advice on issues they may have with experienced photographers who are club members. For more information about the Sonora Photo Club is available by calling 209-591-8182 or visiting www.SonoraPhotoClub.org.
Viewing the special “In Train View” exhibit and attending the opening reception are included in the regular admission to the Park. Railtown 1897 SHP admission costs are as follows: $5 for adults, $3 for youths ages 6-17 and free for children five and under.
