“Show Time” for Local Bonsai Club
Date(s) - 09/22/2018
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
San Andeas Public Library
Mother Lode Bonsai Club will host its fourth annual show and exhibit on Saturday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at the San Andreas Central Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road (off Mountain Ranch Road) in San Andreas. The public is invited to attend and there are no fees for admission or parking.
The bonsai club’s annual show is the members’ biggest event of the year and anyone with an interest in this ancient living art form is invited, according to event coordinators. The essential goal of bonsai is transforming a growing specimen into a miniature living sculpture, aged by natural elements. Viewed as such, bonsai has grown in popularity around the world today.
Along with dozens of member trees on exhibit, a bonsai demonstration will take place at 1:00 p.m. A drawing for the featured tree will be conducted after the demo. Plus, trees, pots and related bonsai items will be available for sale.
Club members come from Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, as well as the Central Valley. For more information, contact Richard McKinstry, club president at (209) 288-2330 or go online to www.motherlodebonsai.org.
