Sonora Opera Hall
The RBM Dance Features Tom Rigney and Flambeau!
The Burleigh-Grandstaff Family and Tuolumne County Arts Alliance have been working together to create the Richard Burleigh Memorial Scholarship to support local youth arts. The scholarship is designed to help provide access to the arts through scholarships, arts lessons, instrument rental or purchase, and possibly helping to bring guest artists and musicians to the area.
Tom Rigney steps out as the focal point of Flambeau, and as the creator of most the band’s music. The strong Cajun/zydeco influence is still present, as are the irresistible dance grooves that have been his specialty for twenty years. The music bursts with the energy of the bayou one minute, turns passionate with a gypsy tune the next; it can raise the roof with a Celtic reel and then touch the heart with a beautiful waltz.
The dance takes place at the Sonora Opera Hall, located at 250 S. Washington St., on February 17th, beginning at 7pm with doors opening at 6pm. Advance tickets of $25 and will be on sale at Mountain Bookshop, 13769-I Mono Way (209.532.6117), at Tradewinds Fine Consignment, 63 S. Washington St. (209.588.8810), or online at www.tuolumnecountyarts.org/store beginning January 15. If available, tickets will sell at the door for $30 that evening. There will be a no-host beer and wine bar featuring Lagunitas beers, Twisted Oak wine and Indigeny ciders.
