My name is Brittney Gilles and I am a 17 year old senior at Sonora High School and my name is Alex Adam and I am a Junior at Sonora High. We have been selected to become a People to People Student Ambassadors to Europe. This summer, we will join a delegation of students our age on a 20 day educational program that will take us through England, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Our Curriculum will teach us about history, culture, and people of the region. After all, there is no better way to learn about culture than to experience it firsthand, through home stays and visits to sites of cultural significance. We will be led by experienced teachers and engage in a wide variety of cultural encounters and adventures. We will get to interact with a British member of Parliament, trace heroic footsteps with insight from a World War II Survivor while in France, and learn more about the Holocaust through learning about Anne Frank and her family while in the Netherlands. We also get the opportunity to visit the Tower of London, the Louvre, the Castle of Heidelberg, learn how German Cuckoo Clocks are made, and learn about a Dutch specialty – clog making. Needless to say, we are incredibly excited!

This once in a lifetime trip does not come cheap though so we are raising some funds to help our parents with the cost. We are currently planning a spaghetti dinner and silent auction set for April 26th at the Sonora Elks Lodge. We would love it if you would consider coming and supporting us in this adventure.

We have some amazing silent auction items and will have some door prizes. The bar will be open for those who would like to purchase alcohol with your dinner. If interested in buying tickets please contact 536-4098.
