Law and Order: Then and Now is the theme for an open house at the Tuolumne County Museum on Saturday, Sept. 22. The museum will be open for tours and other activities for community members as part of National Museum Day, sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution.
The museum was once the county jail. The old cells are now filled with exhibits including replicas of a sheriff’s office, a booking desk and the cell of Tom Horn, a prisoner who started a deadly fire in his cell. Tour of the Museum highlighting new exhibits WWI- Influenza Pandemic exhibit, titled “A Global Crisis:1917-1919.
Also scheduled are a geocaching event for kids and adults to local historical sites in the county, a surplus book sale and a display of police dogs and sheriff’s office devices include a Bearcat armored vehicle and drones.
