Mother Lode Bonsai Club will get back-to-basics at its free public demonstration on Saturday, February 7. The technique of wiring and styling will be presented by Frank Garcia of Sonora as part of the club’s monthly agenda. The demo will follow the member meeting, which starts at 10 am in the former Calaveras County Water District office, located at 423 E. St. Charles (Hwy. 49) in San Andreas.
“The purpose of wiring is to direct a part of the tree into a new position for visual appeal or for corrective purposes. That’s what transforms the tree into a work of living art. Wiring and styling also go hand-in-hand in creating healthy growth,” said Garcia. “The basics of wiring and styling are rather complex and that’s why we are presenting this subject material in two parts. The second part will be presented at our March meeting demo.”
Beginning to experienced bonsai enthusiasts are invited to attend. For more info, call Bob Dean at (209) 754-5887, or visit the club website at motherlodebonsai.org.
