Former CCWD Office
The public is invited to a free demonstration on accent plants presented by the Mother Lode Bonsai Club on Saturday, August 1. The club’s monthly meeting begins at 10:00 am and will be followed immediately by the demonstration. Location is the former Calaveras County Water District office, 423 E. St. Charles Street (Hwy. 49) in San Andreas.
Accent plants, as featured by Sensei (teacher) David Anderson of Pine Grove, are grown in small bonsai containers and play an important visual role in this ancient Japanese art form. When displayed together, accent plants are thoughtfully placed in proximity to larger bonsai where they help to emphasize the scale of the more dominant tree and also add another dimension of interest for the viewer.
Everyone is invited to attend regardless of their levels of experience with bonsai. For more information, contact Bob Dean, Mother Lode Bonsai Club president, at (209) 754-5887.
