The Great American Smokeout
Thursday – November 20, 2014
Quit using tobacco for a day! The American Cancer Society and Tuolumne County Public Health Department Tobacco Education & Prevention program is celebrating the Great American Smokeout on November 20 by encouraging tobacco users to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By doing so, smokers and chew tobacco users will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk.
The Tobacco Education and Prevention Program will be providing free Quit Smoking and Quit Chew Tobacco kits at the Public Health Department. Stop by the public health office during business hours (8am-5pm) to pick up a free kit or call to request quit smoking kits for your work place. Medi-Cal members can now receive free nicotine replacement patches by calling the California Smoker’s Helpline (1-800-NO-BUTTS). For more resources to help quit call the Tobacco Education & Prevention Program or your physician.
