Tuolumne County Museum
Geocache events for adults and kids will kick off Saturday, Sept. 22, at 9 a.m. at the Tuolumne County Museum. For adults the geocache course of 20 locations is designed to call attention to historical sites in the county. The kids’ event will be a walking course of about one mile in downtown Sonora with hints about the locations of the caches. Participants will have a passport that they will stamp when they locate each geocache. The locations have been laid out by Mark Chapman who may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org if there are questions. The geocache event is part of Tuolumne County Historical Society’s Museum Day, sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution. The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tours of the displays in the museum, the former county jail. The cells now contain exhibits about county history.
Registration will begin at 8AM Saturday Sept 22, 2018 at the Museum and Research Center located at 158 Bradford St. Sonora. There are new Historic Stops for Kids around town as well as more historic stops for adults placed at various locations throughout the county.
