Calaveras Big Trees State Park
Categories No Categories
No photographers have spent more time in Calaveras Big Trees State Park than Alan and Claudia Beymer, who live only a short hike from the park entrance.
When the Beymers retired and moved to the mountains, they had no idea what a wonderful retirement gift Calaveras Big Trees would provide. They have made the most of it, and will be sharing what they have seen and learned.
Before retirement, Alan taught photography and journalism at Merced College and had many photographic projects. Claudia taught elementary school and used photography to document her classroom.
Over the past few years, they have spent a great deal of time in the park and shared their photos with Calaveras Big Trees Association, State Parks, and with the world on Facebook.
Their images have dominated websites and graced the walls of homes throughout the mountain region. Almost every day, rain or shine or snow, you can find one or both of them wandering through the park, watching for the best light, listening for the animals, and just enjoying the moment.
At their free photography seminar, the Beymers will share how they continually rediscover the park through a camera lens. All are welcome to attend this event, scheduled for Saturday May 5, at 10 a.m. in the Education Building next to the Visitor Center. There is a day-use fee to enter the park.
Be sure to pack a lunch, bring your camera, and spend the day among the giant sequoias.
