The Mother Lode Office of Catholic Charities in collaboration with Area 12 Agency on Aging, Tuolumne Band of Me Wuk Indians Elders and Social Services Programs, Tuolumne County Behavioral Health, and Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office will present the Elder Abuse Awareness & Prevention Conference on Wednesday, June 15th at The Hotel & Conference Center at Black Oak Casino from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
This information filled free event titled “Cultural Diversity & Healing” will feature Dr. Patrick Arbore, founder and director of the Center for Elderly Suicide Prevention and Grief Related Services, a program of the Institute on Aging and Wilson Wewa, prominent member, spiritual leader, and oral historian of the Northern Paiute Tribe of Oregon and member of the Confederated Tribe of the Warm Springs Reservation. Both speakers are well versed in elder culture and will offer a wealth of information to those in attendance!
Afternoon breakout sessions, facilitated by local experts, will include Internet Scams and Financial Safety; Medication Safety and Wellness; and Cultural Awareness.
The conference will include booths with local agency information, a continental breakfast, and lunch. Continuing education units will be provided by Tuolumne County Behavioral Health.
Doors will open at 8:00 am for check-in and the Conference will begin at 8:30 with guest speakers and informative presentations. The breakout sessions will begin at 1:30.
