Join Calaveras Sings Theatre Arts Repertory for Kids this August 5-7 in Angels Camp for the story of everyone’s favorite practically perfect nanny in this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventure!
CSTARS Kids is proud to bring this timeless story, based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, to the Mother Lode as the company’s fifteenth production. Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and now it comes to the Bret Harte High School Performing Arts Center.
Jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”
With 62 talented actors, ages 5-18, this family-friendly musical includes new songs and old favorites like “Jolly Holiday” and “Step in Time,” and is sure to capture the hearts and imaginations of theatregoers of all ages. Mark your calendars now, and don’t miss this one-weekend-only event!
Performances will be held at the Bret Harte High School Performing Arts Center in Angels Camp on Friday, August 5 at 7:00 pm; Saturday, August 6 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and Sunday, August 7, at 2:00 pm.
