Church of the 49ers
Did you know the very first Cinco de Mayo occurred in Columbia, California? it was a spontaneous celebration by Columbia’s Mexican miners after they heard of the unlikely victory of the Mexican Army over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
On Cinco de Mayo 2018 the Presbyterian Women’s group of Columbia’s historic Church of the 49ers is hosting a Cinco de Mayo Celebration in Faith Hall, beginning at 5 pm on May 5th. This fundraiser will feature a traditional Mexican dinner, entertainment, and the opportunity to win prizes, including a quilt. Proceeds will benefit Presbyterian Women mission projects.
Tickets are $15 adults, $5 ages 6-12, free for children under 6. To order tickets, or for more information, call 532-6604. The Presbyterian Church of the 49ers is located at the intersection of Parrotts Ferry Road and Jackson Street in Columbia.
