An Evening Walk in the Cemetery-Columbia’s Annual Stories in Stone Tour
Friends of Columbia State Historic Park is proud to once again host the Stories in Stone Cemetery Tour at the historic Columbia Cemetery. This once-a-year evening event will be led by costumed volunteers holding lanterns to light the way. Guests will stop at specific gravesites where stories of those who have lived and died in Columbia will be told by some very convincing characters! Listen to some funny, some sad and some horrendous stories from these people who lived during a different period of time and shaped the town’s history. Phil McDonald tour coordinator, says, “My favorite part of this event is seeing these historical figures come to life through the research and portrayals from our volunteers. To hear the stories of Owen Fallon, Michael Rehm and so many others in Columbia really brings history into today’s context.”
The tour begins promptly at 7:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights: September 26, 27 and October 3, 4. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum at (209) 532-3184. Tickets are $25/person and all proceeds benefit interpretation and education programs in the park through the non-profit organization Friends of Columbia State Historic Park.
