Top Talent to rock Calaveras County Aug. 24-26!!
Contest offers three shows at Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp
Musicians from three Mother Lode counties will sing, strum and strut their stuff during Calaveras Has Talent shows to be held Aug. 24, 25 and 26 at the Bret Harte Theater, 323 Highway 49, Angels Camp.
This year’s contest features musicians from Amador, Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. Winners earn cash prizes and opportunities to perform at other venues in the region. Contestants had to pass auditions to win spots on stage at this year’s show, said Steve Baum, a member of the board of directors of the Calaveras Youth Organization, which hosts the contest. “There’s a wide variety of musicians. We’ve got a ukulele duet. We’ve got a lot of singer/songwriter people. There’s a lot of duets and there’s one band.”
This year’s show is entirely music, unlike some of the previous editions, which also included dancers and other acts. The initial round of the youth contest will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24. The initial round of the adult contest will be 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. The grand finale featuring top contestants in both youth and adult categories will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. All shows are at the Bret Harte Theater.
Tickets will be on sale at the door at $10 for a single admission or $20 for a weekend pass good for all shows. Money raised goes to support music education in Calaveras County schools.
Food provided by the Calaveras Band Boosters will be on sale during intermissions.
Calaveras Youth Organization is a 501c(3) non-profit entity that raises money to support music education in all Calaveras County schools and also promotes awareness of the value of music education to development of children.
