As a non-profit organization, the AOBV members support Art Education in local schools and contributes to a yearly Art Scholarship for local artists. They also hold two Art Shows, annually: one is in Bear Valley and one in Big Trees State Park.
The Big Trees Art Show was started 14 years ago. Until last year, it was held in the Jack Knight Hall. Now, with the new Visitor Center in place, the venue has changed to the Education Building, directly across from the Visitor Center. It will be open daily from August 15th to September 6th. Hours for the show are 11 AM to 3 PM on Mon, Tue, Wed and Thur, and, 11 AM to 5 PM on Fri, Sat , and Sun. As with the Bear Valley show, AOBV Artists will be staffing the show, and will be glad to answer any questions about the art and artist.
Besides offering original Art, Photography, Prints and Cards; there is also a Raffle to benefit the Calaveras Big Trees Association. The AOBV artists who have donated pieces this year are: Judy Boles; Nancy Calhoun; Peggy Huth and Deborah Marlene. For a donation of a dollar, you can have a chance to win an original piece of Art. Or, you may up your chances by getting 6 tickets for $5. Tickets are available at the Art Show and the drawing will be held at 2 PM on September 6th. You need not be present to win.
We hope you will stop by to see the Art Show and join yoiur local artists, in some of these Interpretive Programs. We are very excited about our working agreement with the Park, and hope you enjoy the offerings by AOBV during these last days of Summer.
