The Gold Rush Writers’ Conference, for the first time ever, will open to the public its featured guest speaker event featuring internationally acclaimed and award-winning author and poet James Ragan. Ragan is the author of 8 books that have been translated into 15 languages, including In the Talking Hours, Lusions, The Hunger Wall, The World Shouldering I, Too Long a Solitude, and Womb Weary. He is the recipient of countless awards, including three Fulbright Professorships, two Honorary Doctorates, and the Emerson Poetry Prize to name just a few. In addition, there will be an open mic reading by Gold Rush Writers’ Conference participants, followed by an informal cash bar gathering at the hotel bar with the band, IT’S ALL GOOD. (https://www.facebook.com/itsallgoodband/)
This special public event is made possible by a generous grant from Calaveras Community Council (http://calaverascommunityfoundation.org) and will be capped at 36 people. Admission is only $5 per person in advance and $10 (cash only) at the door if not sold out. Dessert and coffee is included. Hotel Leger Ballroom in Mokelumne Hill, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 7:30 PM.
Gold Rush Writers’ Conference was founded in 2005 by New York Times best-selling author and Mokelumne Hill resident Antoinette May with the help of a dedicated group of fellow writers. The goal of the Gold Rush Writers’ Conference is to provide creative writers of all levels a chance to participate one-on-one with established professionals through workshops, lectures, panels and readings.
