All aboard for rail-related fun! In a partnership with Amtrak, California State Parks and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown are proud to present a special Amtrak Train Days community celebration on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Taking the place of National Train Day, this community celebration is one of many events and activities happening across the country, all designed to celebrate the love of trains under the new name of Amtrak Train Days.
As part of this special Amtrak Train Days community celebration, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy steam-powered excursion train rides behind the famous “Movie Star Locomotive” Sierra No. 3, take behind-the-scene tours of the historic Roundhouse and Shops, and enjoy viewing a number of historic locomotives, equipment and vehicles along with the historic blacksmith forge that will be open and operating that day. In addition, popular historic track “speeder” car rides will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and complimentary Amtrak goodie bags will be available to Park visitors (while supplies last).
Regular Railtown 1897 SHP admission and steam train ride costs apply for the special Amtrak Train Day community celebration. Park admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youth ages 6-17 and are free for children five and under. Excursion train rides are available at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. and cost $15 for adults, $10 for youth ages 6-17 and are free for children five and under.
