The Wild Rose Art Gallery
Artists, what have you done with the Red Church? Painted it, photographed it, carved it, molded it, built a model of it, you were married in it?
Let’s show your artwork off again this year. The Wild Rose is having the second RED CHURCH DAY at our shop at 14761 Mono Way, Sonora.
For the 2015 Red Church Day, Wildevines Soapery made a special soap with the church on it, Vicky Fuentes carved an egg with a tiny miniature Red Church inside, Local artists Pat Gray and Marie Jobe painted new pictures of the church to add to the ones we already had in the shop. I found a very old photograph of the church in winter at a thrift store. Businesses, like Legends on Washington Street, brought photos and old souvenirs of the Red Church for our show.
I can’t wait to see what shows up this year. If you want to be a part of the fun, this is what you have to do.
Bring your entry for Red Church Day into The Wild Rose Shop before August 15, 2016. Your entry should be clean and ready to display. Please label each item with your name, address and contact number.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE THE ARTIST!
The item could be a flea market find or a family treasure. Entries will be judged on their unique qualities by 3 local artists (to be selected later) and certificates will be awarded on Friday so they will be with the item on Saturday. Your entry can be just for exhibit or it can be for sale. 20% of each sale will be donated to the Red Church to help with the restoration of the church and their charities.
So check in your grandmother’s attic and photo albums, the local thrift stores, or start painting, drawing or building your entry.
The Wild Rose Shop will raffle off many more items on August 20TH at 12:00PM
100% of the proceeds will be donated to the St. James Episcopal Church for the restoration of the bell tower.
