Longer Lines In DMV’s Future

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — The California Department of Motor Vehicles is well on the road to implementation of the Real ID Act according to DMV officials.

They believe they are way ahead of many other states in the process of making it tougher to forge an identification card.

To make a new license Real ID compliant, drivers will have to present a birth certificate and proof of residency.

Officials say the new law goes into effect in 2008, and there are significant challenges for the DMV to overcome before being able to comply.

Reports indicate more than 22 million licensed California drivers will have to physically enter a DMV office to prove their identity before getting a new license.
