Sonora Police Taser Parolee At Large

Sonora, CA — Saturday morning, a parolee at large, 36 year old Augustin Troy Jesus Melenia of Delhi, was arrested by Sonora Police for violation of parole, obstructing an officer, providing false information to an officer and driving on a suspended license.

Melenia was stopped by officers in the 1100 block of Mono Way for traveling 13 mph over the posted speed limit of 35 mph. When the driver provided no indentification and became combative, officers attempted to take him into custody. While attempting to escape he was tasered, transported to Tuolumne General Hospital and then booked into the county jail.

A female passenger told police that Melenia had lied about his identification and attempted to escape because, and we quote, “he was on the run from his parole officer.”
