Police Investigating Prescription Fraud
Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department is investigating several attempts by the same woman to obtain a controlled substance by fraud.
Reports indicate last Friday afternoon two Hispanic boys between eight and ten years old went to the pharmacy of Wal-Mart with a prescription that appeared to have been altered.
Police say the clerk called the medical center and learned that the prescription was stolen. The boys appeared to be acting as translators for a Hispanic woman near by. When the clerk denied to fill the prescription, the woman attempted to get the prescription back, but the clerk refused to give it to her.
A short time later, the same woman came back into the pharmacy with a young Hispanic girl. This time the younger girl attempted to pass another questionable prescription. The girl identified herself as Nataly Sanchez.
However, the birth date on the prescription would have made the person 34 years old and the girl presenting the prescription was in her early teens. The clerk called the medical center where the prescription was from and learned they didn´t have a patient by the name of Nataly Sanchez.
The clerk refused to fill the prescription and the two females left the store. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Sonora Police Department.
