Calaveras Crops Down $10 Million

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — Revenues brought in by agriculture in Calaveras County are down $10 million dollars.

That´s according to the 2005 agriculture report released Monday. The report is produced by the county Department of Agriculture.

Agriculture Commissioner Mary Mutz says the decline is due to decreased timber harvesting in the county and the closure of a chicken shell egg facility.

Cattle and calves are still the number one industry bringing in $10 million, second is poultry and third are wine grapes.

The report will be posted on the county´s website.
