Multi-Million Dollar Trail Restoration Plan Announced For Yosemite

Yosemite National Park, CA — It´s official; the Yosemite Fund and National Park Service has launched an historic $13.5 million Campaign for Yosemite Trails.

Repairs will be conducted at the west end of the Valley Loop Trail, the John Muir Trailhead and the Happy Isles area including the footbridge that was destroyed by the 1997 flood. Extensive repairs will also be made to the Red Peak Pass Trail over the Clark Range.

The National Park Service is providing the Campaign with $3 millioon from park entrance fees. The Campaign´s lead gift was a $1 million donation from Fund Council members David and Dana Dornsife.

To celebrate the Campaign kickoff and National Trails Day, Royal Robbins and the Yosemite Fund staff will be leading hikes tomorrow starting at 11AM at the Valley Visitor Center.
