Sonora PD Enforcing Click It Or Ticket Campaign

Sonora, CA — Because nearly one in five Americans still fail to follow the law and regularly wear their safety belts when driving or riding in a vehicle, the Sonora Police Department has joined more than 12,000 law enforcement agencies across the country for the “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration more than 31,000 people died in traffic crashes during 2004, and 55 percent of those killed were not wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.
Sonora Police officials say that less than 90 percent of drivers wear their safety belts. The 21 day period of increased safety belt enforcement runs through June 4th.
