Lodi Terrorist Trial Closing

Sponsored by:

Lodi, CA — A federal prosecutor told jurors in a Sacramento court Thursday that the father of a Lodi man accused of attending a terrorist training camp impeded the F-B-I´s investigation by lying to law enforcement officials.

Assistant U-S Attorney Robert Tice-Raskin stated in his closing arguments that Umer Hayat committed a crime when he lied for his son, 23-year-old Hamid Hayat.

The younger Hayat faces up to 39 years in prison if he is convicted of providing material support to terrorists by attending a terrorist training camp in Pakistan in 2003. The father faces up to 16 years in prison if convicted.
