Scientist Need Volunteers To Find Space Dust

Sponsored by:

Berkeley, CA — UC Berkeley scientists are asking the public´s help in finding primal matter from beyond this solar system.

The Stardust robotic spacecraft has been in outer space for the past seven years and it is expected to make its way back to earth early Sunday.

Scientists say the spacecraft has been collecting invisibly small grains of dust and that dust will end up on the ground all around the world.

A plan has been put in motion to try to track down the dust by posting online 1.2 million images of where the particles plunged.

Volunteers are needed to scan them for possible dust particles. Preliminary registration for the volunteer effort has already begun, with people flooding the UC Berkeley web site.
