Calaveras Deputy Honored For Bravery

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — Deputy Grey Foster was recently honored by the California Attorney General for his bravery during an incident that left one man dead in September of last year.

During the midnight hours at New Melones Reservoir, Foster and a few other officers confronted James Patrick Krauth, who was wanted for murder out of Santa Clara County.

As deputies approached, Krauth hit one of the deputies with his car, sending him to the hospital for several hours.

Undersheriff Mike Walker says Deputy Foster had to use deadly force to apprehend the suspect. After being shot, Krauth then crashed his vehicle into a tree.

At the time, Foster had only been with the department for two months.
