Update at 2:45 p.m.: The CHP reports the life-flight helicopter has taken off from the scene with one person suffering major injuries being taken to a Modesto hospital. Officers are directing one-way traffic on the westbound lane of Highway 4. A tow crew is working to remove the wreckage and debris from the roadway. Additional information on the crash is below.

Update at 2:15 p.m.: The CHP reports that Highway has been closed at the crash scene one mile east of Stallion Way to allow an air ambulance to land on the roadway. One person has sustained major injuries. The CHP hopes to have the roadway cleared shortly. Further details on the collision can be viewed below.

Original post at  1:55 p.m.: Angels Camp, CA — The CHP is on the scene of a collision that is stalling traffic on Highway 4 in the Angels Camp area of Calaveras County.

Two-vehicles are involved in the crash with one being a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The CHP reports it collided with another vehicle possibly head-on about a mile east of the Stallion Way intersection. One person had to be freed from the wreckage and an air ambulance has been called to the scene.

The vehicles are blocking both lanes of the highway and traffic is getting backed up. We will update this story as soon as more information comes into the newsroom.
