Stanton Preliminary Hearing Set For This Morning

Sonora, CA — In just 75 minutes David Roy Stanton of San Andreas is scheduled to to have a preliminary hearing in Department Three of Tuolumne County Superior Court on a charge of murder.

The 39 year old Stanton has been charged with the Saturday evening, August 25th murder of 29 year old Jon Steven Flaherty of Wallace. Stanton was arrested by Sheriff´s deputies the next day. He has been held on $1 million bail in the Tuolumne County Jail.

His sister, Shawna Lea Stanton of Sonora, was also arrested and charged with assisting the suspect after the initial crime. She was booked in the County Jail with a bail amount of $10,000.

Tuesday, August 28 Sheriff´s Department Lt. Dan Bressler reported that a body had been found in the Deer Creek area near Murderer´s Gulch. On Friday of the same week the deceased was positively identified as Flaherty.

Stanton is being represented by Defense Attorney Patrick Angermiller of Sonora. The presiding judge will be The Honorable Douglas C. Boyack.
