Sonora High Lockdown Suspect Identified

Sonora, CA — Lt. Mark Stinson of the Sonora Police Department has identified the individual who was the direct cause of the high school´s lockdown earlier today as 47 year old Nelson Edwards.

The 5-10, 220 pound Sonora resident has blue eyes, with brown and grey hair. He was last seen wearing black jeans and a black sleeveless t-shirt.

According to the police report Edwards became involved in a domestic dispute and threatened a male subject with a broken wine glass at a residence in the 200 block of McCormick Drive. Edwards then picked up a large kitchen knife and attempted to stab a female in the same residence.

When he heard the approaching sirens he turned and ran. Officers located the knife, but they have yet to take Edwards into custody.
