Update: Second Power Outage In Calaveras County

Update at 3:11pm: The lights are apparently back on for customers impacted in the Rancho Calaveras area.

Although restoration time had been pushed out to 4:30 p.m., PG&E indicates the outage affecting 120 customers was repaired just before 3 p.m. The incident was reportedly related to an equipment issue, possibly downed power lines.

Two other unrelated outages beginning Tuesday morning affected smaller numbers of customers in both Copperopolis and Valley Springs and were repaired by early afternoon. The Rancho Calaveras outage was the last to be brought back online.

Update at 1:15 p.m.: PG&E has pushed back the restoration time once again for the 120 customers in the Rancho Calaveras area where power lines came down.

The incident occurred in the 500 block of Pleasant Oaks Drive near Olive Orchard Road off Highway 26. Firefighters extinguished a small 10’ by 10’ spot fire at the scene. The utility relays that an equipment issue caused the outage and crews are working to repair the damage. The new restoration time is 4:30 p.m.

Update at 12:20 p.m.: PG&E has extended the restoration time for the 120 customers in the Rancho Calaveras area of Calaveras County area from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.

Update at 10:40 a.m.:  This second power outage that sparked a small grass fire in the Valley Springs area closer to Rancho Calaveras has grown from 19 customers to over 120. Power lines are reported down in the 500 block of Pleasant Oaks Drive near Olive Orchard Road off Highway 26. Firefighters extinguished the blaze at a 10’ by 10’ spot. The restoration time remains at 12:15 a.m.

Update at 9:15 a.m.: CAL Fire reports that the vegetation fire has been contained at a 10′ by 10 ‘ spot. PG&E has estimated a 12:15 a.m. repair time for the 20 customers in the Valley Springs area. Power lines were reported down in the 500 block of Pleasant Oaks Drive near Olive Orchard Road off Highway 26.

Original post at 8:55 a.m.: Valley Springs, CA — A second power outage in Calaveras County and this one has sparked a small vegetation fire.

The outage is impacting nearly 20 customers in the 500block of Pleasant Oaks Drive near Olive Orchard Road off Highway 26 in the Valley Springs area. Power lines are down and CAL Fire is reporting that the fire is currently a 10 foot by 10-foot spot and fire engines are responding to the scene. The utility has posted a 12:15 p.m. restoration time.
