CCWD Calls For Water Conservation Around Rancho Calaveras

Sponsored by:

Valley Springs, Ca — Water conservation measures are urgently being requested of all residents in and around the Rancho Calaveras area of Valley Springs.

The extreme heat is causing the rate of water use by customers to exceed the capability of the system to recharge. Calaveras County Water District Director of Administrative Services Pat Emerson says watering outdoors should only be done between 6pm and 10am. Odd addresses are asked to water on Tues, Thurs, and Saturday, and even addresses on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Irrigating on this schedule will help to keep usage within this system´s design limit of 1,500 gallons (approx. 200 cu. ft.) per day per household. CCWD staff will be going door-to-door on July 6th with tags requesting assistance, and outlining other simple conservation measures.

Emerson says that a pipeline extension under construction on Hwy 26, part of system improvements intended to help balance the system between its two zones, is not yet complete. The pipeline extension is expected to be in service by the end of July. In the meantime, high water use will continue to be a concern.
