Mother Lode Residents Named To Columbia College’s Hall Of Fame

Columbia, CA — Tuolumne County Health Officer Dr. Todd Stolp, Dirk Travis and the late Terry Hoff will be inducted into Columbia College´s Hall of Fame Thursday, April 5 in a 6pm ceremony in the Rotunda on the second floor of the Manzanita Building.

Stolp (pictured to the right) has contributed his services to the college for many years in a variety of capacities. He currently serves as the campus medical director of health services and under his direction the school´s health services office can offer students flu vaccines and screening tests for tuberculosis, strep throad, anemia and other illnesses. In addition he is always available for consultation and has sought ways to creatively broaden health care services to the college´s growing student population.

Dirk Travis, a professional photographer and owner of Sierra Photography in Sonora, graduated from Columbia College in 1986 with an A.A. degree receiving an associate in science degree a year later, both with honors. Travis has assisted the college with numerous photographic assignments for over 20 years. Among them are photos of Hall of Fame recipients, basketball teams, graduations, handbooks and retiring instructor gifts. He has been actively involved with the community through Partners in Education, the Tuolumne County Fair, Sierra Repertory Theatre, and he has served in the mentor programs of Sonora and Summerville High Schools.

Terry Hoff was one of the first female professors at the college. At the age of 24 in 1974 she was hired as a faculty member in fine arts and health and human performance. Her passion was dance displaying talents as a performer, instructor, choreographer and artistic director of dance. Hoff also volunteered her time to teach dance in the 1990´s to Tuolumne County elementary school students. She lost her battle with cancer passing in August of 2004. Her husband Ty Smith will accept the award.

Hall of Fame awards are presented to individuals from the community, faculty, staff, student body and alumni who have demonstrated exemplary voluntary leadership to Columbia College or provided resources to further the college´s mission.
