Pictorial Memories Of “The Storm”

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — “The Storm” is history but it will undoubtedly be remembered for quite some time to come.

The first portion of the storm hit Monday in the Mother Lode with plenty of snow in the Sierra Nevada and rain in the foothills.

The second portion of the storm hit Tuesday evening and through the Wednesday morning hours dumping as much three to four feet of snow in the foothills.

In addition to trees falling, power was lost to approximately 18,000 customers in Tuolumne County Wednesday afternoon. At the same time 8,000 P.G.& E. customers in Calaveras County lost their power. By Thursday afternoon, the number of customers without power had been reduced to 60 in the two counties.

While there was plenty of rain and snowfall from the “double header” storm, the Highway Patrol reports there were no fatalities or even serious accidents in the two county area.

The National Weather Service is predicting a slight chance of showers in the foothills this evening with snow showers possible in the Sierra Nevada. Blue skies are predicted for the Mother Lode weekend.
