San Andreas, CA — Beginning his third year in office, Supervisor Bill Claudino will serve as chair of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors.

Claudino is a retired CHP officer representing Supervisorial District 1, which covers the areas of San Andreas, Valley Springs, Campo Seco, La Contenta, Comanche, Burson and Wallace.

Supervisor Steve Wilensky, also in his third year, will serve as vice-chair. Wilensky represents Mokelumne Hill, Paloma, West Point, Wilseyville, Glencoe, Railroad Flat, Sheep Ranch and Mountain Ranch.

Also during the board´s Monday meeting and after some confusion during the first meeting of the year last week, Supervisor Russ Thomas finally took his seat.

Thomas beat out incumbent Supervisor Victoria Erickson to take over District 5, which covers Rancho Calaveras, Jenny Lind and Copperopolis.

For one of his first official actions, Thomas appointed Steve Kearney to represent the fifth district on the Planning Commission.
