California Remains Below Normal For Precipitation

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Thursday afternoon and evening storm that moved through the Mother Lode dropped only a small amount of snow in the foothills.

For the 400 mile Sierra Nevada range, snowfall is currently 59 percent of normal. Usually at this time of the year the figure would be 68 percent.

A year ago the Sierra Nevada snowpack was 180 percent of normal at the conclusion of winter thanks to a March storm that dumped as much as 12 inches of snow in Sonora and eight inches in Jamestown in one 24 hour period.
