Sponsored by:

Copperopolis, CA — A Calaveras County officer was attacked while responding to a domestic violence call in Copperopolis Sunday.

Deputies received a call about an attempted suicide at a home on Poker Flat Road. Upon arrival it turned out the suicide report was false but a physical altercation had taken place.

Authorities say 54-year old Sheryl Kubitz stabbed her husband 67-year old Ned Kubitz in the back of the neck with an insulin syringe three times causing visible injury.

The husband fought back and knocked the syringe out of his wife´s hand, at which point she picked up two knives and threatened to stab him.

Deputies say Sheryl Kubitz resisted arrest and had to be physically placed into a patrol car. During booking, Kubitz struck a female correctional officer four times with closed fists.

The suspect was placed in a padded jail cell for her safety and for observation. Kubitz is being held on $115,000 bail.
