Sacramento, CA — The Department of Water Resources conduced its initial snowpack measurement today.

At the 6,800 foot Phillips Station snow depth was 41 inches with water content measured at 10 inches. That equates to 83 percent of normal.

D.W.R. Public Information Officer Amy Norris added that overall the state is at 76 percent of normal with that measurement taken on electric sensors.

Measurements are taken once a month with the final measurement taken in May. Public Information Officer Don Strickland says the most telling measurement is generally taken in April.
