H.R.C. Food Bank Seeking Turkeys For Thanksgiving Day

San Andreas, CA — Ask H.R.C. Food Bank Director Billie Westernoff what tops the list for needs for this Thanksgiving and she´ll quickly tell you turkeys and plenty of them.

Westernoff has 350 families waiting for turkeys for the Thanksgiving weekend.

She adds that the Food Bank will gladly accept any non-perishable items, i.e., canned and packaged goods, for families in need. Toys and clothing are also accepted for children. The Food Bank also invites cash donations. Westernoff says one dollar can provide for 10 meals.

Westernoff says the one year increase in need is a record setter. From January-June of 2007 to January-June of 2008 the need has increased 73 percent.
